British standard for polyester coating

The British Standard for polyester Coating on Galvanised steel is BS6497. This standard specifies multi-stage chemical pre-treatment as follows:

1. DEGREASE
2. RINSE
3. ALKALINE OR ACID CLEAN
4. RINSE
5. ZINC PHOSPHATE
6. RINSE
7. DE-IRONISED RINSE OR CHROME SEAL

Euro Fence Coatings processes is designed to produce coatings, which are chemically and physically bonded to the metal. The Zinc Phosphate coating underneath the paint is there to prolong the useful life of the paint film by protecting the metal from corrosion, particularly at damage sites, and to assist the adhesion of the paint. The whole purpose of BS6497 is to achieve durability and corrosion protection. The aesthetics will vary with the type of powder used and the gloss level specified. As stated before matt finish gives the best finish on galvanised substrate. If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
